Intro To "THE MAKEUP DIVA"_June 6

WELCOME DIVAS......to my very 1st Blog. The purpose of my blog is to allow my family and friends to "follow me" on my voyage to becoming a Make Up Artist as well as to be my audience & support team. This will be an experience of learning, practicing, and experimenting with various skin care products, make up techniques & products.
As you go through this voyage with me….I would like you to share your opinions of any pictures/posts/websites/articles that I may post of make up art, techniques, skin care trials, etc. Being able to receive/accept both positive and negative criticism is very important in excelling in the Makeup Artistry business.

My blog will ALWAYS include but will not be limited to the topics listed below:

• SKINCARE
• MAKE UP TECHNIQUES/TIPS
• TRIALS OF THE SKIN
• DIVA DEALS
• FASHION (periodically)

Okay here we go………

*** SKIN CARE ***

I thought I knew what SKIN TYPE I had UNTIL….I went to the Clinique counter to purchase a {Toner}. I informed the Clinique consultant lady I wanted to purchase a toner for oily skin. I cleansed my face, and then used the toner. Not sure if anyone remembers the part from the movie Home Alone….when the boy puts the after shave on his face and then SCREAMED…..that was ME!!!
My face was on FIRE…..for a good 15-20 minutes. I kindly returned the toner to the store, and advised the Clinique consultant what happened after I placed the toner on my face. She chuckled and then said “Maam, you don’t have oily skin. You have combination skin. Your skin appears to be oily only in the T-zone.”

Click on the link below to find out what skin type you have…….

If you aren’t already following through with the proper skin regimen…..try the regimen listed above…You wont regret it. I promise.

*** DIVA DEALS ***
I always look for sales on the beauty products that I love to use. I don’t believe in paying full price if I don’t have to…..especially in this recession.
So as I find “deals”….I will include them in my blogs….

{ULTA}
→ bareMinerals Try. Believe. Love 5-pc Starter Kit Sale price: $20
Original Price: ($51 value)
*** I actually went to get “color matched” today: Golden Dark. I’ve heard a lot of great things about bareMinerals, but I have never tried the product until today. I will blog about this product at a later time.

→ ULTA Irrestible Eyes Palette (8 shades) Sale price: $10
Original price: $12.99 ($56 value)

Hope you enjoyed my “1st" blog…it will get better and more informative as i go through this voyage.

SMOOCHES…..Until the next time Divas

  2. i love this site. i too hate paying full price for stuff, but don't want to have to settle for poor quality just to get the better price. i use prescriptives make-up that i can only find at mall so i'm paying mall prices. i still love that make-up, but my pockets don't love that price. i've always wanted to try the minerals but didnt know anybody who use it; so i think i'm going to try it instead of refilling my current products.

i would like to see pics tho, maybe some before and after shots of some some of the products you talk about.

  6. Yes! Yes! Get it ma'am! I am excited about this adventure for you. You have always received compliments about your makeup, hair, etc. So, this is something that is like second nature to you. I will be of help in any way that I possibly can be as you partake on the magnificent journey.
So, as you know I don't do makeup really I like to keep it simple and natural. But I'm really into my skin. And I have that fabulous glowing chocolate skin YES! But recently I don't know if it's stress or what but I have had some breakouts and as of right now I'm using a retin-a and cleansing with cetaphil which is working rather well. I just have to get rid of a few pesky dark spots. So I welcome any suggestions. Nicole

  7. Hey girl LOVING the blog!...this is your thing, It comes natural to you. Wow how did you find all the good deals? I'm so happy I can learn more about make-up from you. I know you will kill me if I don't blog my knowledge of skin care. So here is some basic skin care thought's & FY I's to the ladies....

Do you know you your skin type?

Skin type is determined by your T-Zone. T-Zone is the center area of the face corresponding to the forehead, nose and chin. How large the pores are in the T-Zone and throughout the face determines your skin type.

Most of us Diva's have combination to oily skin.

There is Five basic skin care products you will need to great skin.
    *Cleanser
    *Toner
    *Exfoliant
    *Mask
    *Treatment cream or moisturizers/serum

Did you know combination to oily skin type should use foaming cleanser?

*Bar Soap is not recommended as it can leave a film on the skin and can cause dryness.

    Why is Toner so important?

It removes residue left behind by cleanser, restore the skin's natural PH balance after cleansing. It have a temporary tightening effect and help certain skin condition.

Did you know there are two types of exfoliation, Mechanical and Chemical.
*Over exfoliating can make hyperpignation worse (dark marks)

Mask can do wonders for the skin. Masks provide numerous benefits for the skin.

    *Tighten & Tone
    *Clean out pores
    *hydrate
    *nourish
    *Calm and soothe
    *Rejuvenate the skin.

Combination to oily skin type should use water-base moisturizers daily.

Benefits for using moisturizers, it help retain water within the surface layer of the skin.

So for us diva's get ready to look vibrate, fresh and rejuvenated. Hope you find my FYI's helpful.

Remember choosing a makeup product is similar to choosing a skin care product. So ladies remember before apply your make up, make sure your skin is cleansed and smooth. “Alright now time to put on my face..until then...Toodles.”

Now for my skin care question....I see that you have your favorites and I took notice to the different brands, but if you use different brands wouldn't it cause irritation?
